Inpatient Endocrinology NP/PA
Prima CARE, a 160-provider multispecialty group in southeast Massachusetts, is recruiting a hospital- based NP or PA to join our Endocrinology Division. Prima CARE has a strong Primary Care referral base and southeast Massachusetts has a disproportionate prevalence of diabetes.
The Endocrinology Division is staffed by Fellowship-trained physicians who supervise the care of patients with diabetes and other endocrine conditions. The advanced practice provider, as part of this inpatient team, will see diabetic and general endocrinology patients as a consultant, working under physician supervision. Typical for a "hospitalist", the schedule would be 7-on/7-off, splitting holidays with other APPs and physicians. Night call is extremely light and is rotated weekly.
Hospital duties include evaluation of new and established diabetic patients, diabetic teaching, initiation of oral/insulin therapy, management of hyperglycemic (and hypoglycemic) states, management of DKA and hyperosmolar states, management of peri-operative blood sugars, and consultation about thyroid conditions. Although less common, other endocrine disease (e.g., adrenal, hypothalamic/pituitary, parathyroid, hypogonadism) are seen and are managed with assistance of the physicians.
Consultations and rounding are at Saint Anne's Hospital, a Brown University Health facility. Saint Anne's will be transitioning from Meditech to Epic in 2025. Prima CARE uses an outpatient electronic medical record (eClinicalWorks), with interfaces to the local hospital computers.
Salary is commensurate with training and experience, with generous benefits including malpractice, a CME allowance, vacation/sick/personal time, health insurance, and a 401K retirement plan. The successful candidate must demonstrate a willingness to learn, maturity, organization, compassion, and an ability to work as part of a team. Experience in Endocrinology would be extremely valuable.
Prima CARE is physician-owned and managed. We participate in all major national and regional healthcare quality initiatives, Accountable Care Organizations (ACO), insisting on the highest quality of personalized care.
