Meet Rakesh Gupta, MD
Dr. Rakesh Gupta is a Board-certified specialist in Sleep Medicine. He is a graduate of the Medical College Baroda and the S.S.G. Hospital in India, where he began his post-graduate medical training. He trained in Internal Medicine in Maryland and Michigan, followed by a Fellowship in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at UConn and a Fellowship in Sleep Medicine at the Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Gupta has been an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Boston University, practicing and teaching Pumonary Medicine and Sleep Medicine at Roger Williams Medical Center for nearly 15 years before joining Prima CARE in 2013. He served as Director of the Roger Williams Sleep Disorders Center and has now chosen to devote his clinical pursuits to Sleep Medicine. He is expert in the evaluation and management of the full range of sleep problems. He is experienced in the use of various testing modalities (including home sleep studies) and advanced treatment modalities (such as ASV, iVAPS, and AVAPS) to treat complex sleep disorders.
Dr. Gupta has won teaching awards, is a published author in peer-reviewed journals, and has lectured extensively to both professional colleagues and to the public. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP), and a member of the American Thoracic Society. Dr. Gupta is Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Gupta sees individuals with sleep problems in his out-patient office in the Prima CARE Sleep Disorder Center in Somerset. He is available for in-hospital consultations at St. Anne's and Charlton Memorial Hospitals in Fall River.
