Weight Management at Prima CARE

Prima CARE is pleased to announce its affiliation with the
Steward Center for Weight Control.

Dr. Tamer Yacoub, Chief of the Prima CARE Endocrine Divison, is also the Director of Prima CARE's very successful weight management program, focusing on medical, metabolic, and dietary approaches to weight control.  The program is now expanding to include bariatric surgery as part of its comprehensive approach to weight loss.

Through affiliation with St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Dr. Anthony McCluney, a bariatric surgeon at St. Elizabeth's, is now seeing patients at Prima CARE in Fall River.  Dr. McCluney is a Board-certified surgeon specializing in gastric bypass surgery, sleeve gastrectomy, and other types of weight loss surgery using minimally-invasive techniques.  He is scheduling office consultations twice-a-month at Prima CARE, evaluating patients prior to surgery, and providing follow-up post-surgical care. 

The St. Elizabeth's Center for Weight Control is fully-accredited as a Center of Excellence in Metabolic Management and Bariatric Surgery and has been recognized for its Quality Improvement efforts.  The program has been honored by Blue Cross-Blue Shield with two Blue Distinction Center designations for Specialty Care in the area of bariatric surgery.  This new affiliation provides Prima CARE patients a comprehensiveprogram of nutritional consultation and weight-loss guidance from its team of physicians, nurse practitioners, and registered dietitians, all delivered on-site at Prima CARE.

In addition to Dr. Anthony McCluney in Fall River, the Steward Center for Weight  Loss includes Dr. Nicole Pecquex, the program director, who sees patients at the Center's satellite office at Hawthorn Medical Associates in Dartmouth.  Dr. McCluney is seeing patients on the first and third Tuesdays of each month in Fall River at:
