Renal Artery Duplex
The renal arteries are the blood vessels that supply flow to the kidneys. A buildup of plaque can cause narrowing, or constriction, of the arteries that restricts blood flow to the kidneys. Constricted arteries can lead to kidney failure for patients with hypertension (high blood pressure). A renal artery ultrasound detects narrowing in the renal arteries, assesses the blood flow in the kidney and evaluates the kidney organ itself.
